DAILY NOTES/HOMEWORK
Homework should be complete at the beginning of the
class or it is
considered late.
Every homework assignment
is worth 4 points.
-
4 points will be awarded
if the
assignment is on time, complete, the work is shown and corrections are made. Corrections are to be made
with a red pen or pencil. Class notes are also included with the daily
assignment and must be included with each assignment.
-
3 points will be awarded if work is on time and complete,
however
it is missing any ONE of the above (notes, corrections, work)
-
2
points will be awarded if the assignment is late or incomplete or
missing TWO or more of the following: work, corrections, notes.
Using a red pen, you will check your homework each day in class.
You are responsible for correcting any errors that you have made.
A correction means to re-work problem, or isolate the error. You can
use another sheet of paper for you corrections or you can make the
correction next to
the original problem. Your corrected homework is
due at the beginning
of class the next day.
QUIZZES & TESTS
One test per
unit unless the unit is very lengthy. Two or three
quizzes per unit.
SOME GENERAL
HOMEWORK GUIDELINES
-
Proper heading in upper right corner - name - page number - problems numbers - date
-
Take notes in class, then do your homework right below your notes.
-
All work must be done in pencil. No exceptions.
-
Copy the original problem on your paper before you begin to solve it
-
The steps that follow are to be done
one underneath the other, NOT
to the side
-
Leave a blank line between the final step of one problem and the
first step of another.
-
ALL work needs to be shown for credit. Work done "in
your head"
or on "another piece of paper" will not earn any credit.

ATTENDANCE
Attendance is a necessary component for
success in most classes,
but especially in math
classes. You are responsible for making up
any assigned work. If you are absent, you can determine the
revised homework due date
by giving yourself a grace period
equal to the number of days you
were absent. In other words, if you
are absent for 1 day, you have
an extra school day after you return
to turn in missed work.
Should you need more time, see me BEFORE
the homework due date and
we can work something out. It is your
responsibility to check
Moodle for missed assignments.
Any work that was
assigned before your absence must be turned in on
the day of your return,
unless other arrangements are made.
Tests are announced
many days in advance. If you miss the day
before a test, you will be expected to take the test with the
class.
If you are absent the day of the test, you will need to make
arrangements to make up the test ASAP within the same week
of the absence.
Unexpected Absences
Work missed due to
lengthy unexpected absence will be dealt with on
an individual basis.
School Activities
If you are involved in
school activities that may cause you to miss
a class, remember that your homework is still due. Be sure to drop
it off and put it in the
homework basket prior to your event. You are
responsible for the material that is
covered. Any homework that may
be assigned will still be due as assigned.
Outdoor Education
If you are involved in Outdoor Education make sure you check with
me to get the assignments
BEFORE you leave.
Outdoor Education occurs
during the 4th quarter. The curriculum at
this point of the school year is quite intense, applying and
integrating
previously learned concepts to new material.
I strongly encourage you to learn and complete the material before
you leave for outdoor education to avoid getting behind. This
can be
difficult but not impossible. It will take a commitment on your
part.
As much as I would like to re-teach an entire week of
lessons
to you individually, time just does not allow me to do so. If an exam
is given the week you are gone, you should plan on taking it before
you leave.
It will take some planning on your part to be able to
participate
in outdoor education, however, it can be done and from what
I have been told it is well worth it. In past years,
most students
have worked ahead, asked questions, or had some help from a tutor,
parent,
sibling, high school student, etc.
