   HOW CAN I CONTACT YOU?

Please feel free to call or email me at anytime to discuss any

concerns that you may have.  If you call the school (827-0086) and

leave a message I can return your call when I am not teaching. You

can find my teaching schedule here

The fastest way to reach me is through e-mail. I check my e-mail

frequently when I am not teaching and can usually get back to you

   within the same day.

    WHY IS ALGEBRA SO IMPORTANT?

Algebra is the critical first step to understanding higher mathematics

such as geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, calculus and beyond.

Because higher mathematics is rooted in algebra concepts,

learning algebra is essential for anyone considering taking more math

   classes.

Math is weightlifting for the brain!  The struggles that may occur as
your child makes his/her way through this year will strengthen their
mind. Success in algebra correlates highly with success in higher
education.  Learning the abstract reasoning skills that algebra
teaches helps children become better abstract thinkers in general.

Algebra is critical to a student's chance of attending college. SAT and
ACT exams are key factors in being admitted to a college or

university. In order to score well on these exams your student

needs a solid grasp of algebra.

   HOW CAN I HELP?

  • Stress the importance of the nightly homework. All assignments
and materials can be found at Moodle. Your student can show you
how to log in. If you would like to have guest access click here.

  • Call or e-mail me RIGHT AWAY if you are concerned
    - early intervention is always the best course of action.

  • Use the parent access to check your students grades.

  • Stress the importance of nightly corrections.

  • Remind your student to show all work/steps.

  • Check to make sure your child has completed/attempted
     ALL of the assignment.

  • Help guide your child as he/she learns to set priorities.

  • Take time to read the Algebra State Goals - your child is expected to be successful with these goals.

  • Algebra (for high school credit)  has a double class period on Wednesdays - so exams will usually be on a Wednesday. I know it is difficult to schedule medical appointments, but if at all possible, please try to avoid review and exam days.
