ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
1st Semester:
Students will start brainstorming and learning how to be environmental stewards and assess their environmental footprint. The units we will cover will include sustainability, the prairie, the forest, and ecosystems.
During first semester, students will be collecting insects and leaves, working in the computer lab on environmental issues, presenting current events, creating artwork, and they will also have an opportunity to participate in field trips to the prairie and forest.
As part of Writing Across the Curriculum, writing will be incorporated at strategic times.

2nd Semester:
Students will continue with the concept of Environmental Stewardship. We will cover populations and human health, pollution, fossil fuels, nuclear energy, alternative energy, and endangered species.
During second semester, students will be doing mapping activities, participate in labs, participating in a scavenger hunt, creating artwork, and doing a personal garbage assessment.
As part of Writing Across the Curriculum, writing will be incorporated at strategic time.
