Fundamentals of Chemistry

     First quarter will be dedicated to the Scientific Method which is expanded from the freshman year as well as lab safety, equipment, metrics, and measuring.  Students will create and present experiments, bend glass, and participate in a metric munchie lab and an M&M meltdown lab.

     Second quarter, students will study matter and the periodic table. They will also study mixtures and molecules.       

     Students will study solubility and solutions third quarter.  They will do labs on distillation, chromatography, and potable water.  There will be graphing throughout the year.  They will also make rock candy.

    Neutralization and conductivity will be studies during fourth quarter.  Students will have a soda lab.  They will also do a heat project, study mechanics, and have a couple of guest speakers.

     Students will write throughout the year as part of BHS's dedication to Writing Across the Curriculum.  There will also be a technology project to enhance computer skills.
