I lead a blessed life...

I am currently the life science teacher on the 7H team and have been since 2001.  Before then, I taught at Dee-Mack previously where my wife and I also graduated.  WHo says you can’t go back home?

Prior to graduating ISU, I was fortunate enough to work a variety of jobs to pay for school.  I am currently certified to teach mathematics, science, and social studies.  I finished my masters back in 2003 focusing on technology integration into the classroom and hope to start back soon to ISU for another masters to become a media specialist. 

Above is a picture of Parker Burnell who was born in June of 2008.  His older sister, Katherine Rube (aka Kat), was born in January of 2006.  Daddy little tax deduction was just a few days late.  Both were named after maternal grandparents and hopefully he will forgive me for having the initials of PBJ.  You might also see some pictures on this site of Samson our Boxer/Lab mix we adopted from a shelter 5 years ago. 

To me, science is nothing more that formal play.  As kids, a commonly used word is, “Why?”  As we grow up, the world must seem less curious for some.

My class is very technology dependent.   If the goal of public education is to prepare our students for the workforce, how can we omit such a important aspect?  Sadly, nothing dies quicker than innovation.  What is cutting edge today will soon be obsolete in the future.  Learning how to understand new technologies to learn and communicate is more important that simply mastering a specific piece of software or hardware.

I hope this is a fun and successful year for your child.  I hope they feel challenged and rewarded in 7H.
