All About Mrs. Jones

One of my favorite parts of the school year is learning about all of my new students. Everyone is so unique and has something special to add to our classroom. In order to create a trusting learning environment, I feel that it is only fair to share some things about myself as well. So here goes...I grew up in a rural area about one hour north of here. I grew up on our family farm, and attended school at Mazon-Verona-Kinsman Elementary and Middle School. Our high school consolidated with Seneca High School, so that's where I spent my high school years.
I went to Joliet Junior college to receive my Associates Degree, and then came to Illinois State University in 1999. I graduated ISU in May of 2001 with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Education, with a middle school endorsement in Language Arts, and Social Science. I am currently working towards my Masters' in Reading Degree at ISU, and will be finished in May of 2006.
I began my career right out of college at Stevenson Elementary as the School Improvement teacher for two years. During those two years, I got married, and my husband got a job at State Farm, so we decided to stay in the Bloomington area for good. I moved to teach 3rd grade in the 2003-2004 school year. I thoroughly enjoy teaching 3rd grade, and hope to teach many more years at this grade level.
When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, friends, and family doing just about anything. Some hobbies of mine are scrap-booking, reading, watching movies, and playing with my dog Baxter (I'm sure there will be pictures to come!)
So that is just a little bit about me, I hope to learn a lot about all of you throughout the course of our year together. Thanks for taking the time to visit my website!
