Why geography?
It is my mission in teaching to provide young people with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in the 21st century through the study of geography. Students will learn to more effectively communicate in many forms, collaborate with others, and apply the creative, critical thinking skills required to meet the challenges that await our world. This can be achieved by fostering a better global understanding, comparing and analyzing cultures, and celebrating diversity to prepare students for an increasingly globalized world.
"Consider this: a general public not exposed to a good grounding in geography can be duped into believing all kinds of misinformation." (de Blij, Harm (1995). Harm de Blij's Geography Book: A Leading Geographer's Fresh Look At Our Changing World. New York: John WIley & Sons, Inc.
