
NUTRITION
OBJECTIVE: Students should be aware of nutritional habits and consequences of their nutritional choices that are make on a daily basis. The students will be able to fill out a three day meal plan that is beneficial for their body and one that they will like.
CURRICULUM: The food pyramid will be emphasized. We will attempt to relate real life habits with what the body needs on a daily basis. Dietary disorders will also be discussed. An International Food Fair will help to show how other countries deal with dietary needs. This also serves as the hands on part of the unit.
MATERIALS USED: Overheads, books and the library. Poster board may also be used for the hands on section.
HANDS ON LEARNING: This unit will have an International food fair as one hands on learning plan. Here the student is responsible for getting a recipe from a foreign country, preparing it and bringing it in for presentation and consumption. A second hands on will be a three day meal plan. Within this plan, the student will make up a correct meal plan that they can eat that correctly covers their daily requirements.
