Behavior Expectations Pre-Kindergarten is a time when students learn how to behave in school and what is expected of them. We have rules in our classroom so that the students will be ready for the rules of Kindergarten and every year after that. We talk about our rules often and students are expected to learn and follow them.

Rule #1 Make Good Choices
This means that students needs to use an indoor voice, be kind to others, walk inside, use words to solve problems, etc. They need to remember that they are in school and should make choices that are appropriate. We talk about good choices all year long and your student will have lots of opportunities to learn what a good choice is and how to make them!

Rule #2 Follow Directions
This is an important rule that can keep your child safe at school. Again, we practice this rule and talk about it often!

Gumball Machine Each student has a gumball with their name on it on one of our Bulletin Board Gumball Machines. These gumball machines are a visual reminder to your student that he or she needs to follow the rules.
We start each day will all the gumballs inside the gumball machine, meaning Good Choices. If a student does not follow the rules, then he or she moves to the edge of the gumball machine as a Warning. If he changes his choices back to great ones, then the gumball goes back into the machine! If he or she continues to ignore the rules, then his gumball is taken out of the gumball machine. This means that he or she will lose a privilege such as center time or snack.
If your student keeps his or her gumball inside the machine for the majority of the day, then they will have a sticker or stamp on their hand to show you. Ask to see this sticker or stamp every single day and be sure to tell them how proud of their choices you are!
