*Read
together everyday. Set aside time at least once a day to read two or three
stories to your child - before bed is a great time for this! This can be
quality time together that your child will remember and cherish forever.
*Visit the
Bloomington Public Library at least once a
week! The books there are always changing and you can always find something
great to read. They also offer some excellent, free programs for families
and young children. Borrowing a book and returning it when it is due also
teaches your child responsibility and accountability.
*It's okay to read a book over and over again. While you as an adult might
get sick and tired of hearing or reading the same book more than once, your
student probably never will! Reading a book more than once opens the door
for more discussions and lets your child discover different things with each
reading. It's important to always read fresh, new stories, but don't forget
to re-read the old favorites as often as possible! |
