Each year, the Orchestra
students participate in a project that focuses on some aspect of music
that does not involve playing and performing. Recent projects have
included Music Theory and Composition, SHMRG (the Elements of Music),
History of American Music and Jazz, and Music History. The project
this year will focus on basic music theory and composition. Throughout the year,
students will learn about chords, scales, and what goes into composing a
piece. The final project will be a composition from each student!
