Please talk to your child about the school day each evening and ask
about good choices or behavior. Help your child be accountable for his
or her behavior as well as make a plan for better choices the next day
if problems were identified.
- Each student has a frog with his/her name on it.
- I give a verbal warning for unacceptable behavior one time.
- If the child continues this specific behavior he/she is directed to move his/her frog.
- On the large lily pad- No warnings
- On the edge of the large lily pad- One warning
- Jump to the next lily pad- Two warnings and
a discussion with the teacher about making better choices.
- Jump to the next lily pad- Three warnings and
a thinking spot form is filled out and sent home.
- Jump to the last lily pad- Four warnings and the
student is sent down to the principal’s office.
- If a student strikes, threatens, or is extremely
disrespectful to another student or an adult, there are not warnings given.
A frog will be moved and further consequences may occur.
Rewards
- Oakland School has adopted the "fill a bucket" motto.
- You can fill someone's bucket by making good choices.
- If a student is "caught" making good choices, that student
will earn a bucket ticket.
- These bucket tickets earn many things.
- When an individual student earns 5 bucket tickets the student
receives and award sticker.
- When 10 bucket tickets are earned the student earns a prize from
the treasure box.
- When 15 bucket tickets are earned the student earns a positive
trip to the Principal's office.
- On Friday we dump our tickets into the school bucket to admire what
good choices have been made. The K-1 class that earns the most
bucket tickets each week is awarded Oakie to keep in the classroom.
- The whole class has a marble jar.
- If the whole class is “caught” being good I will add jewels
to the jar.
- When the jewel jar is filled the class will earn a party to celebrate
their excellent behavior.
