Wednesday, April 5               8.2       The Exponential Model      
 Objectives:        Objectives:
-   Use differential equations when looking at proportional rates of change (y ‘ = ky, y(0) = b), where k and b are given constants.
-       
The function  is a solution to the differential equation y ‘ = ky with initial condition y(0) = b.  (k is the proportionality constant and b is the y-intercept)
-         
k tells you about the growth rate, and b is the y-intercept.

Homework:  Read and take notes on section 8.2 (p. 527 – 530) and do Homework Worksheet #1


Thursday, April 6                   8.3       Applications of the Exponential Model
Objectives:
-   Be able to represent a function as an exponential function of another base ()  Another form:  y(t)=Aekt=Act when A= y(0).
-         
parameters that indicate growth:  k>0 or c>1
-         
parameters that indicate decay:  k<0 or c<1

  Read and take notes on section 8.3 (p. 531 – 537) and do Homework Worksheet #2 – due Monday!
