Note:  There are NO retakes this chapter.  Remember, if you miss handing in
homework (on time) two times this chapter, the ability of replacing quiz grades
with test grades no longer is an option.     
 

We did these last chapter - make sure you know where they are and put them in your chapter 12 notebook.

Section 12.1-12.2 Surface Area of Prisms and Pyramids

Obj.:

  1. name the parts of a pris

  2. state the difference between lateral and total surface areas of prisms

  3. find the surface areas of prisms

  4. Name the parts of a pyramid

  5. state the difference between lateral and total surface areas of pyramids

  6. find the surface areas of pyramids

Homework:       Read and take notes on 12.1 (p. 561-562) and do p. 563 # 1-11
                           Read and take notes on 12.2 (p. 565-566) and do p. 567 #1-6

Section 12.3  Surface area of Circular Solids
Obj.:    

  • name the parts of a cylinder, cone, & sphere

  • state the difference between lateral and total surface area of cylinders and cones

  • find the lateral and surface areas of cylinders, cones, and spheres

Homework:  Read and take notes on 12.3 (p. 570-571) and do p. 567 # 7-13 and p. 572 # 1-14

Section 12.4  Volume of Prisms & Cylinders
           
Obj.:    

  • find the volumes of right rectangular prisms

  • find the volumes of other prisms

  • find the volumes of cylinders

  • use the area of a prism’s or cylinder’s cross section to find the solid’s volume

            Activity:  Session 1 – Volume Experiments

            Homework:  Read and take notes on 12.4 (p. 575-578) and do p. 579 #1-15 all, 16-22 evens

Section 12.5  Volume of Pyramids and Cones
            Obj.:    

  • find the volumes of pyramids and cones

  • solve problems involving cross-sections of pyramids and cones

Activity:  Session I – Volume Experiments – Group assignments for Volume Experiments Session II

Homework:  Read and take notes on p. 583-585 # 2-20 evens

Wednesday, May 14

 

Section 12.5 (cont.) and Section 12.6 Volumes of Spheres       Hand-in Homework 1 Due
Obj.:    

  • find the volumes of pyramids and cones

  • solve problems involving cross-sections of pyramids and cones

  • find the volumes of spheres

  • use Cavalieri’s Principle to explore and find volumes of figures

Activity:  Session II – volume Experiments # 1 & #2 & #3

Homework:  Read and take notes on p. 589 and 592 and do p. 589 # 2-18 evens
