IMPORTANT NOTES

Chapter 5

  • Procedure-Indirect Proofs

Chapter 6

  • 4 Ways to determine a plane
  • Parallelism of lines and planes (gray box)

POSTULATES

Write these out

  • Chapter 5:

    • Parallel Postulate

  • Chapter 6:

    • Three noncollinear points determine a plane.
    • If a line intersects a plane not containing it, then the intersection is exactly one point.
    • If two planes intersect, their intersection is exactly one line.

THEOREMS

            §Write out theorems 30 – 44 (Ch 5) and 45 – 49 (Ch 6) and Prove Them!!

§Write out the properties of the quadrilaterals

§Write out the ways to prove that quadrilaterals are parallelograms, rectangles, rhombuses, squares, kites, and that trapezoids are isosceles.

CONSTRUCTIONS

§ You should also be able to do compass and straightedge constructions of parallel lines.  You should also be able to construct any quadrilateral given any of the properties found in sections 5.6 and 5.7 on geometer’s sketchpad AND with compass and straightedge.

Semester
Exam
Info

Your semester exam will count as both a quarter exam and as your semester EXAM and will cover chapters 1 – 6!  There will NOT be a chapter 5/6 exam this quarter.

A practice test for chapter 5 and 6 along with your other practice tests and quarterly exam will be your review for the exam.  There is a cumulative review at the end of chapter 6 if you'd like more review.
