Chapter 7

Friday, Jan. 22
Section 7 - 1 Parallel Lines and Related Angles

By the end of this lesson you should be able to

  • identify interior angles, exterior angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, corresponding angles, same side interior angles, same side exterior angles
  • having parallel lines, you should be able to identify all types of congruent and supplementary angles

Homework:  Read and take notes on section 7 - 1 (p. 363 - 365) and do p. 366 # 1,2, 3, 6, 9, 12, ..., 24, 27

Monday, Jan. 25
Section 7 - 1 Parallel Lines and Related Angles (cont.)

By the end of this lesson you should be able to

  • Find the measures of angles using the theorems, postulates and algebra
  • Set up and prove measures of angles using two-column and paragraph proofs.

Homework:  Worksheet 7 - 1, Day 2

Tuesday, Jan. 26
Section 7 - 2  Proving Lines Parallel

By the end of this lesson you should be able to

  • recognize conditions that result in parallel lines
  • know what a flow proof is and how to construct one
  • write proofs (2-column, paragraph, or flow proofs) to prove that lines are indeed parallel
  • know what a converse of a theorem is

Homework:  Read and take notes on 7-2 (p. 371 - 373) and do p. 374 # 5 - 15 odds,
19 - 27, 29a , 32, 33, 35

Cliff Notes on Testing for Parallel Lines

Wednesday, Jan. 27
Section 7 - 3  Constructing Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

By the end of this lesson you should be able to

  • construct a line parallel to a given line and through a point not on the line
  • construct the perpendicular line to a given line at a given point on the line
  • construct a perpendicular line through a point NOT on a line

Homework:  Read and take notes on 7-3 (p. 377 - 380) and do p. 380 # 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 17, 18

Thursday, January 28
Section 7 - 4  Parallel Lines and Perspective Drawing

By the end of this lesson you should be able to

  • Draw objects using 1- and 2-point perspective

Homework:  Read and take notes on 7-4 (p. 385 - 388) and do p. 388 # odds 1 - 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 19 (make sure to have this done before coming to class - you'll need it for the lab!)

Here's some links to look at before your lab day!
