VS.
MATH vs. MUSIC
Because we have been hearing about several recent studies that have drawn a correlation between the music people listen to and their math skills, we decided to determine if this relationship also appeared at Bloomington High School.
~~This theory first appeared in the book The Mozart Effect by Don Campbell. The book proposed that when listened to during early childhood, music, especially that of the classical variety, improved a child's spatial-temporal reasoning by creating connections in the brain (More information on the Mozart Effect can be found below under "Links") ~~
Going in to the study, we expected to find several things:
a) ...that honors math students listen to more classical music than regular math students
b) ...that regular math students listen to more rap music than honors math students (this was gleaned from personal experience)
c) ...that there is a relationship between a student's level in math (honors vs. regular) and the music he/she listens to the most
Now, onto the format of our Super Statistics study!!!
