Newscast: People of the Revolutionary War

 

You will be presenting a newscast with a partner. One partner will be a person from the Revolutionary War and the other partner will be a news reporter. You will develop a newscast that lasts 1-3 minutes and includes the required information. Before creating your newscast you need to research a person from the Revolutionary War. Your presentation will be filmed.

 First, choose one of the following people:

 Crispus Attucks

Salem Poor

Phyllis Wheatley

Cybil Ludington

Molly Pitcher

Deborah Sampson

William Howe

Lord Cornwallis

George Washington

Nathanael Greene

John Paul Jones

 Have your person approved by the teacher. Only one group will be allowed to do each person. 

Second, Research the person you chose and complete the attached sheet.

Third, develop your newscast.

Questions to think about:

1.    Who will be the person from the Revolutionary War/News reporter?

2.    What questions will the news reporter ask? Write these down.

3.    What facts about the person from the Revolutionary War are most important to include? Write these down.

4.    Practice! Practice! Practice!

2.    When was he/she born?

3.    Write a brief description of the person.

4.    What was the role he/she played in the Revolutionary War?
