The
Process
-
The bedroom that you
will be working on is average in size, 10 feet by 12 feet.
Be accurate with your measurements.
-
To begin the
assignment, you need to start with your blueprint.
Decide on the scale that you are using and draw the outline
of the room including 2—3 ft. by 3 ft. windows, 1 door to the room
as well as a closet door. Standard
doors are also 3 feet wide.
-
Everything that you
are adding to the bedroom must be to scale.
Be sure to add the scale to the bottom of the blueprint and
label each item. That
is very important to figure out what the actual size of each
item will be. This blueprint is a visual to be used during your
presentation and may be constructed on graph paper.
-
You will have a
budget of $10,000. You
must be creative in order to stay within your budget.
It is very important that you do not use more money than
already allocated to you from your uncle.
Do not forget, any money left over will be given to your
younger brother or sister!!
-
Now for the
fun……Use the resources listed or others that you may know of to
“shop” for items that you would like in your bedroom.
Don’t forget to consider the window/wall/floor coverings as
you are starting with an EMPTY and BARE bedroom!
-
As you
“purchase” items, cut out/ print off pictures of the items
you’ve chose as well as any size or price information about them.
These will be needed for the final presentation.
-
Update your dream
room purchase worksheet as you purchase items.
-
When all purchases
have been made and the blueprint is finished, you must organize your
information into a presentation format of your choice.
Suggested formats include power point, posters, brochure, or
web page.
-
Your final product
must be presentation in speech format to the rest of the class
highlighting the unique aspects of your dream bedroom.
