Resources for Parents

Part of the dynamics of learning is parent involvement.  Here at BJHS, we fully believe that the students will learn and be most productive, when the parents take part in their student's education.

Each class is designed to provide the best possible Technology  education to my students. I believe that parents have the right to be involved in their student’s education. I also believe that an educational system is at its best when both parents and students are participating.

To that end, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me. I think that an open dialogue between teachers and parents is essential for the overall success of each student and I look forward to working with you throughout the year.

Getting Involved

Below is a list of websites to help get the parents involved. The following sites are excellent resources that can provide new ideas, fresh insight, and a helpful hand for parents.

Stop Cyberbullying: Attorney General Lisa Madigan's site to help  "Stop Cyberbullying".  This web site provides a variety of resources for kids, teenagers, parents, and educators seeking information and advice about cyberbullying.

NetSmartz.org: The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) has created an environment for safe learning.  This site helps parents to get up to speed on things that happen online, and helps the student gain an understanding of the dangers that exist online and how to deal with them.  Their tagline is "Educate. Engage. Empower".

PowerToLearn.com: Cablevision has put together a site that allows the parent to get their children involved in learning technology.  They focus on things that allow the parent to enhance the learning that goes along in the classroom.

Suite101.com - Teaching Technology: Technology has a very important role in the classroom today and can be used to teach important concepts in almost every subject area. It is important that teachers become comfortable with many forms of technology so that they can use it in the classroom for learning.

EducationWorld.com: Although it can be difficult to navigate, this site contains great information and lesson plans. As a bonus, Education World emphasizes integrating technology into the classroom.
