What will Technology at BJHS be like in the Future?

Our Hope is...

Bloomington Jr. High is updating it’s current Technology curriculum.  The district is putting a lot of time and money into this new program which will help us educate students to better use technology not only in school but the work place.  This is a cutting edge program that will be a stand out at the middle school level in Illinois.  We are hoping to become a showcase school for other programs around the state.  We believe that students and parents will be excited about the up coming changes.

The new curriculum for the Bloomington jr. High will be aligned with the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) Standards.  We feel that these standards will keep our students current with the latest goals that they will need for their future education and careers.  The program we are creating will be one of the only jr. high programs in the state of Illinois to implement these high standards for students.  Upon completion of our new curriculum  we feel that our students will be ahead of most students in the area of Technology.

Standards for the Future

We will be using the following standards in the new curriculum to develop our students technology skills so they are not only efficient users of technology but understand the appropriate uses of these powerful tools.

Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.

Technology Operations & Concepts

Research & Information Fluency

Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

Technology Productivity Tools

Communication & Collaboration

Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
