U.S. History Quarter 4 Update: Miss Donnelly

Due Dates: Initial assignments should be in by Monday April 21^st (so I can grade and give you a chance to correct)

The LAST DAY I will take assignments is Friday April 28^th -no corrections can be made to assignments past this due date.

Q4 Reaction: Write a reaction dealing with the issue of immigration, use the information you have collected for you immigrant profile (the “new” immigrants) as a resource. Ask yourself or research these questions:

• How hard id the process of immigrating to America today?
• How do you feel about the treatment of immigrants in America?
• What would it be like to immigrate to America today?
• Is immigration a big issue today? Should it be why/why not?

(Think about some advantages and disadvantages for the immigrant group(s) and advantages/disadvantages for Americans)

Q4 Field Report: Independently view a movie that deals with any culture seen here in America, The majority of this movie must show how the culture interacts here in America OR how American culture interacts in other countries. The movie CAN NOT be about a culture in their native country. You can pick ANY culture to watch a movie about. If you are unsure of your movie choice please run it by me before you watch it.

The things I want you to turn in with your field report are:

1. At least ½ page of notes.

2. A DETAILED paragraph about the things you learned about this culture and how it interacts with other cultures.

3. An EXPLANATION of how the movie relates to 3 EW terms.

4. In two-three sentences describe a cultural artifact or practice that was done, seen or described in the movie and its meaning to that culture.

Immigrant Profile: Focus your energy on the “new” immigrant section, this information will help you write your Q4 reaction. Use the rubric as a guide as to what needs to be in your booklet you will or have put together. This will be due on Friday April 11^th. You will get two extra points on this assignment if you turn in the rubric with it.
