Extra: P.I.E assignment-
Student will pick a topic (person, invention, event) based on the assigned dates.
You will need to read about the topic and sum up the important information in two to three sentences.
Along with the two to three sentences, you will need to pick TWO EW Terms that relate to your topic and write a sentence for each as to how they relate to your topic. (additional terms will result in extra points)
With this information you will make a visual that will contain the TOPIC, the IMPORTANT INFORMATION, Page # (where we can find this information), a DRAWN Picture (with color), and at least TWO EW Terms. All of these must be easy to read and find on your visual. The Visual should be done on a normal size piece of computer paper.

Assigned: MLK Interview/ Learning Statements
Find 5 people to interview.  Try for ages 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75-- do not count yourself.
Ask them about MLK: the holiday, what he did, why/ how much he matters, what he was like as a person, methods he used to work for change, how should he be remembered, specific knowledge they have, specific memories they connect to him, and what would he say/do today?

Step 1 is to conduct the 5 interviews—possible questions listed above.  The interviews can be brief and do not need to be conducted in person (phone or e-mail is fine).  Take notes and submit them with your reaction.  Please try to find at least two people old enough to remember Dr. King as a living person.

Step 2 is to describe an important 'discovery' related to each interview-- What did you learn and why is it important?

For descriptions and guidelines, please refer to text and audio information about all the assignments posted at: http://www.district87.org/staff/wetzelw/0708webmaterials/0708audioinfo/assignmntinfo/0708assignmntinfoaudio.htm.

Q3 STTA (past due): fairly easy because we worked on it in class on several days.

Q3 Field Report (3/7): watch a movie and tell me what you learned—easy to score most of the points. (30 minutes plus movie length)

Q3 D of I Recital (3/7): moderately difficult, but partial points available.

Q3 Candidate Reaction (3/7): moderately difficult. (90 minutes)

Q3 Scene Seen (3/7): difficult for students who did not work on it all year—probably too late to start now. (whole year project)

Q3 Backside Notes (3/7): moderately difficult. (60 minutes)

Q3 Extra Credit (3/7): moderately difficult (90 minutes)

Students may also need to complete the Dr. King and Mrs. Tripp visit (absent students are excused) assignments.
