Civil War Newspaper (Due Wednesday April 21)

Students are to form their own Civil War newspapers. Newspapers can be done in pairs. Each newspaper should include 2 articles. This should be done on the computer, however if this is a problem please talk to me so we can work something out. I am not opposed to you writing and drawing this on paper. Do not use your Comic Life topic!

Newspaper Requirements:

1. Newspapers should begin by deciding on the city from which they are publishing and name.

2. At least 1 article on the Union perspective and 1 on the Confederacy perspective.

3. Articles should be written in newspaper format (columns).

4. Articles should be near 1 page in length.

5. Each article should include at least 1 picture.

6. Each article should have a person involved.

7. Each article needs a place/date.

8. Make sure to have the writers name at the bottom of the article.

Ideas for article topics:

-A specific battle                  -Women during the Civil War           -Military- Army or Navy                   

-The President                      -African Americans in battle             -A specific woman                              -Emancipation Proclamation

-A specific general               -Prisoners of war- war camps            -The Gettysburg Address                    -Transportation/Communication
