What Interests you?

Directions: Choose a topic in American History that you enjoy or want to learn more about (it does not need to be a topic that will be studied this year in History). Your topic can be a person, place or event. Try to narrow down your topic and make it detailed. For example, do not just pick WWII; choose a specific subject such as the Battle of Singapore or President Truman.

The subject of the first email you send me should be What Interests You? (You’re Class Period). For example, What Interests You? (5th Hour). Each time you send me a new email following one of the steps below or with questions and comments please click reply. Do not send a new email! This way I am able to read what we have talked about in previous emails.

This assignment is worth a total of 10 points. After completing Steps 1-3 you will get 2 points, after Step 4 you will get 2 more points, and after Step 5 you will get 6 points.

Steps 1 and 2 should be sent in the same email.

Step 1:

Confirm you have read the instructions by responding with any questions or comments, if any.

Step 2:

Send me via-email a sentence or two with the topic of your choice. Remember, be detailed!

Step 3:

Make any changes I may suggest in your topic. And re-send me your topic.

Step 4:

Find at least two credible sources. Examples include the following:

-Internet: Many credible sources end in .edu, .org, or .gov. Sources that end in .com can also be good sites such as the History Channel. Just make sure it is not an advertisement site and trying to sell you something.

-You may also use books, magazines, journals or videos.

Email me your findings!

Step 5:

Write at least ¾ page on your topic. Your first paragraph just needs to be a sentence or two on why you chose the topic you did. Your second paragraph should describe and explain your topic. One of the first things you should mention is the time period; when did a person live or the dates of an event. What is something new you learned and what interested you the most? In addition, provide a sentence or two on why the person, place or event you chose was important. What significance does it have in our history?

-Hand in typed not via-email or email me a Word document as an attachment. Double Spaced, Times New Roman Font, Size 12 Font

Step 6:

If you have any questions or comments on your grade send me an email.

You should expect a reply within 2 days of me getting your information. If you do not have a reply by the 3rd day please email me once again.
