You are a member of a medieval culture inhabiting a large
stretch of land in a mild climate. Your ancestors from the east settled this
land. You come from a proud heritage that values strength and courage. The
growing season is usually short. You have all but extinguished the top soil
through the seasons of crop growth and livestock grazing has consumed much of
the native vegetation. There have been sightings of other people who can
navigate the west seas. You are experiencing food shortages and the winters are
getting colder and longer. Contacts from the homeland to the east are occasional
and unpredictable. What do you do?

You are a member of an English colony in the new world. It is
winter and you have a limited food supply. The supply ship will not return from
England until the spring. Food consumption is limited to one cup of meal and cup
of water per person per day. The water is stale and the meal is infested with
insects. The indigenous peoples are reportedly hostile. There are rumors of
community members who fled into the forest seeking community with the natives,
and who were never heard from again. Isolated stories of cannibalism within the
settlement are starting to spread. What do you do?

Solution & Aspects of Citizenship
You are a member of an ancient culture on a small tropical
island. You have occasional contact with other island communities; however, they
are sporadic and unpredictable. The island is big enough so several communities
that have different type of resources exist. At one time, this island had vast
forests, but over time previous generations have cut them down for various
purposes. The different communities have challenges growing crops because
weather has eroded the top soil. There is a huge quarry in which community
members dig to create large monuments to honor those who have done good deeds.
The situation is becoming critical. Communities regularly argue. Food shortages
constantly occur. What do you do?
Is the situation with the quarry necessary?
