Bloomington Public Schools
Software Installation Procedures

Due to the complexity and interoperability issues related to software installation, the Technology department will offer the service of software installation to all shared labs within District 87 and to any piece of software that has a site-license for all of the district.. This service will only be provided once each semester. Prior to the lab software installations for each lab, the technology department will need the following from each building:

  1. List of Applications to be loaded

  2. All media (CD or Diskette) and documentation for listed applications

  3. Proof of License for as many machines that are in the lab (or proof of Site-License for the entire district)

  4. Any special menu item considerations.

Every reasonable effort will be made to install these applications within the requested timeframe.  It is important to understand that not all applications will work with the restrictions put on student access to the computer and the fact that it might of been designed for a previous Operating Systems (Built for Windows 95 or or Built for OS 9.0 when using OS X).  These issues will be evaluated by the technology department and you will be notified if the application can run in the current environment.  It is best if you are evaluating software to first talk with the Technology Department to make sure your machines are capable of running the software and that the software is capable of running on the Operation System.  Failure to check either one of these issues could cause the application not to work properly on the District computers.

If a building would like to request this service for one of its shared labs, please
use the following Software Installation Form and mail it to District 87 Technology at
least one month prior to installations.

Only district wide applications can be added to the image for teacher's workstations.  If you have a special need (such as a building wide application) please contact Technology about the issue and we might be able to work out a solution for the problem.
