Additional Information about Licensing Consolidation:
District 87 Technology has been consolidating purchases of
software throughout the District (i.e.. Alexandria library software,
SRI / Reading Counts, etc), so that we can reduce unit costs, and it
can be more easily managed on various images. If you are
interested in consolidation of software, please contact Jim Peterson
in Technology.
Current Specifications / Information:
We purchase our Microsoft software from the ISBE's Purchase Program.
District 87 Technology supports and deploys all Windows-based machines on the network with a common operating system and productivity suite. Beginning in 1998 these two applications were Windows NT and Office 97.
Over time, District 87 has migrated to Windows 2000 and Office 2000.
With the new deployments in the Summer of 2006, District 87 will migrate to Windows XP and Office
2003 on all machines.
District 87 Technology will continue to upgrade and budget for upgrades to machines that it purchases for classrooms and labs.
Any licenses for machines, donated or from other sources, will be the responsibility of the building to purchase and maintain proper licensing.
Technology will assist with purchasing, license inventory and deployment of applications whenever possible.
