A Moveable feast is
a one-week summer institute organized by the Office of Educational
Technology at the University of Illinois. This project-based technology institute is
tailored to meet the needs of training teachers and administrators in
technology and emphasizes ways to integrate technology in conjunction
with Illinois Engaged Learning standards.
All Feast participants
receive:
-
hands-on training
with a 1:5 trainer ratio
-
curriculum guide
-
software
-
professional
development credit
-
classroom applications
and integration
-
plenty of food!
Preparing for its
eleventh year, A Moveable
Feast has grown from 3 sites and less than 150 participants in 1998 to
over 475 participants at 7 sites throughout the state during the summer
of 2005. For the summer of
2008, the Moveable Feast is undergoing curriculum reconstruction in
collaboration with Bloomington Public Schools District 87, McLean County
Unit District No. 5, and the University of Illinois Office of Educational
Technology.
As data becomes an
integral part driving instructional decisions, technology becomes an
essential tool for making this possible. The Moveable Feast is right
there with the training educators need and want.
