How long do kindergarten and first grade students spend in the Learning Center?
All students in kindergarten and first grade come to the Learning Center for forty minutes every week. Please check with the classroom teacher for the scheduled time and day.
How long do students in second through fifth grade spend in the Learning Center?
All students in second through fifth grade come to the Learning Center for one hour every week. Please check with the classroom teacher for the scheduled time and day.
How many books can a student check out at one time?
Students in kindergarten through second grade may check out one book each week. Students in third through fifth grade may check out two books each week.
How long can the students can keep a book?
All student books are checked out for one week.
Can the students renew a book and how many times?
Students may renew books as often as they need but popular titles and award books may have fewer renewals.
What happens if my book is late? Do I pay a fine for an overdue book?
Students may not check out another book if they have an overdue book/books. Students receive a printed notice for an overdue book once a month. We do not charge fines at the elementary level.
What happens if I lose or damage a book?
If a student loses or damages a book they are responsible for paying its replacement cost. Book replacement costs are based on the age and condition of the book. Students are encouraged to let the media specialist or classroom teacher know of book damage or loss as soon as possible
