Mrs. Julie Sandy is currently in her 16th year as the Director of Choirs in District 87, Grades 6-12.
Mrs. Sandy completed her student teaching at both District 87's Washington Elementary School and at Flanagan High School before completing her Bachelors in Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University. While at Wesleyan, she worked on the following: Voice, Piano, Organ and Flute. She participated in the University's Choir and Band programs. After graduation from IWU, she worked from 1992-December of 1995 at Bloomington Junior High School, teaching the 6th-8th Grade Chorus classes, as well as General and Adaptive Music. During this time, she completed her Master of Music Education from Illinois State University.
From 1996-2009, Mrs. Sandy taught piano and voice lessons, as well as directed Church Choir and various other music programs, while raising her 4 children with Mr. Sandy.
Mrs. Sandy returned to District 87 in the Fall of 2009 and has been here ever since, teaching 6th-12th Grade Choirs.
Mrs. Sandy currently resides in Bloomington with Mr. Sandy and their youngest daughter, Maura. She enjoys reading, walking, playing the piano and family game nights!
