Mrs. Carnahan has been a member of the band faculty in District 87 since 2006.  Her primary teaching duties include directing the 6th grade band and 8th grade band along with the BJHS Jazz Band, and she assists with band classes at all other grade levels.  She also serves as department chair for the Fine and Applied Arts at BJHS, and coordinates the hosting of numerous music events at BJHS.  Under the direction of Mrs. Carnahan, the bands at Bloomington Junior High School have consistently earned superior ratings at concerts and festivals, and the bands have continued to grow in both their size and their quality.  

Outside of school, Mrs. Carnahan enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling.  Her primary instrument is the french horn, but she performs most often as the solo alto horn with the Brass Band of Central Illinois.  She lives in Normal with her husband, their twin daughters, and their dog.  

Sarah Brown joined the band faculty at Bloomington Junior High School in 2017, and she has brought a wealth of woodwind expertise to the program.  Her bands have consistently earned high marks at contests, and she has been a great asset at BJHS.  Outside of her regular teaching duties, Miss Brown has also been an assistant with the BHS Marching Raiders for the past 8 years.  

In her spare time, Miss Brown is an active member of her church community and enjoys spending time with her family.  She resides in Bloomington.
