Mr. Jason Zimmerman

 

Mr. Zimmerman is currently in his fifth year teaching in the music department of Bloomington Junior High School, where he directs the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade orchestra classes, while assisting with the beginning fifth grade orchestra class. Mr. Zimmerman also teaches the sixth grade the sixth grade Arts for Life music classes, having adapted and implemented the World Music Drumming curriculum in the fall of 2017, after completing training through Vandercook College of Music. Prior to teaching in District 87, Mr. Zimmerman served as a K-12 Suzuki strings and orchestra teacher in Decatur Public Schools (IL).

Mr. Zimmerman's primary instrument is the cello, and has performed with central Illinois area orchestras. Outside of school, Mr. Zimmerman enjoys running, cooking, and traveling, and he resides in Bloomington with his wife and three children.

    World Music Drumming meets on alternating A/B days, according to the student's schedule.
