Mrs. Katie Hays

The 2022-2023 school year marks my 13th year teaching elementary music and my 9th year teaching music at Washington School. I attended Illinois Wesleyan University. After graduating, I went to Capital University and received my Kodaly Certification. I love learning so much that I am recently completed my Masters of Music Education at Illinois State University. I play the piano and violin, and I love to sing!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy going for walks and bike rides, playing games, and watching movies. I also find great joy in my hobbies. My hobbies include gardening, cross-stitching, yoga, reading and playing piano.

My goal as a teacher is to share the joy of music with my students. I hope to instill a love and appreciation for music, as well as encourage students to use music throughout their entire lives.

It is truly a joy to create music with the students at Washington School.
