Ms. Zhalih Travis

  • Me in a nutshell:
I was born and raised in this area. My longtime interest in Education and Psychology brought me to this field. Over the years, I have studied at Heartland, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and the University of Memphis. After finishing my internship in West, Memphis Arkansas my husband and I decided we wanted to come home. I worked for 4 years in Peoria Public School District 150 before coming to District 87.  Studying, working, and living in different areas of the country has given me a unique perspective on education and I have enjoyed broadening my horizons. I strive to help students achieve their potential and support staff, whether that is through consultation, individual and group counseling, assessment, analysis of data, or simply giving different perspectives and ideas! On a personal note, the other part of my life involves being a wife, as well as, a mother to two amazing boys ages 7 and 4. They really help me keep the passion I have to make school a place everyone wants to be! Other interests of mine include photography, reading, kayaking, camping, painting, and music. I am excited to begin my 3rd year at Irving and Sheridan Schools where I get to be inspired every day by those around me!  Please keep checking back on my page for resources to help you and your student!
