Ms. Zhalih Travis

  • Me in a nutshell:
I was born and raised here (although I went to Unit 5). My longtime interest in Education and Psychology brought me to this field. Over the years, I have studied at Heartland, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and the University of Memphis. After finishing my internship in Arkansas my husband and I decided we wanted to come home. I worked for 4 years in Peoria Public School District 150 before coming to District 87.  Studying, working, and living in different areas of the country has given me a unique perspective on education and I have enjoyed broadening my horizons. I strive to help students and staff achieve their potential, whether that is through consultation, individual and group counseling, assessment, analysis of data, or simply giving different perspectives and ideas! On a personal note, the other part of my life involves being a wife, as well as, a mother to two amazing boys ages 2 and 5. They really help me keep the passion I have to make school a place everyone wants to be! Other interests of mine include photography, reading, kayaking, camping, painting, and music. I am excited to begin my 1st year at Irving and Sheridan Schools where I get to be inspired everyday by those around me!  Please keep checking back on my page for resources to help you and your student!
