Mrs. Kristin Ahrens - PE

The 2022-2023 school year will start my 10th year of education and my 3rd year here at Washington Elementary.  I grew up in District 87 and was once a Washington Wolf! It is so cool to be able to share my love for teaching at the same school that teachers did the same for me. After high school, I attended Illinois State University where I pursued my teaching degree while playing volleyball for the Redbirds. 

Physical education provides the opportunity to teach students about movement, strategies, teamwork, problem solving, and health-related fitness.  My goal as a physical education teacher is to foster a love for health and wellness by giving students the skills and confidence to be lifelong movers. 

My husband Scott and I have two children; our son Bodie is 3 and our daughter Charley is 10 months old.  When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, working out, taking our dog Finch for a walk, being outdoors, trying new restaurants, and shopping for home decor! I am looking forward to a great school year!
