If you're visiting this page because you have a kindergartener coming to Stevenson, WELCOME! You've come to a good place where your child will learn and grow and will have opportunities to embrace our diversity and rich experiences we offer. Our kindergarten team is (in my very biased opinion) the best! I'm so glad you're here.
Since you took the time to stop by, I'd like to share a little about me. Here I am by the numbers!
3--beautiful children who make us proud in their individual ways
5--college degrees in our family, but Illinois Wesleyan is the one I call home
16--years at Stevenson, all of which have been in kindergarten
1--job as coach's wife--you might know Mr. Baldwin the track/football coach!
28--years of teaching--all but 2 have been in D87
5--marathons I have run, some of them faster than others
30--average number of miles I run a week
2--yoga mats I own--one for home, one for school
4--animals living in my house at the moment
2--cups of coffee I drink every morning, but just one if it's a latte ;)
Q & A
Although details have not been announced, I can assure you that all teachers at Stevenson hold parent relationships as a high priority. We know how much you love your children and we know how important your involvement is with your child's education. We will get creative, work together, and will develop the best plan we can. Thank you in advance for your committment to work with us.
We will be following the guidelines from Illinois State Board of Education and Governor Pritzker. Your child's safety and staff safety will be at the forefront of planning. No one wants to compromise anyone's health just to be in the school buildings.
Because we don't know exactly what school is going to look like for each family, please plan to gather these basic school supplies for your child:
Individual plastic supply box
Large Crayons (8 count)--Crayola colors the best and lasts the longest
Regular sized crayons (24 count)
Glue bottle--the regular size is good
Glue sticks--4-6 sticks
Blunt kid scissors--look for lefty scissors if your child needs them
Pack of pencils--Ticonderoga is worth the money!
D87 sent a survey to all registered families on Monday, June 29 to get feedback about your wishes. If your family did not receive an email, check to see if your child is registered at D87.
