Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Jeffrey Lockenvitz - Principal

I am proud to be in my 27th year as the principal at Washington School.  My wife, Gina, and I have three grown boys: Michael, Mitchell and Thomas.  I have lived in Bloomington/Normal for my entire life.  I graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education, and from ISU with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration.  Since the school’s opening in 1896, I am only the 10th person to have served as principal and value the rich history and traditions that have carried over for generations.

Washington School has a special place in my heart and is so much more to me than a unique old school building with character.  Washington School is a community, a feeling, a family.  It is a place that has its own climate and culture.  It’s a place where people feel valued, all are equal, and everyone is supported.

Washington is fortunate to have outstanding students, parents and staff who are committed to learning and growth.  We appreciate the strong parental support and cooperation extended to us and encourage communication between home and school.  The staff continues to amaze me with their level of caring, desire to learn and passion for teaching. It is an honor to be a part of the Washington Wolf family.
