Mr. Zach Freeman - Principal

My name is Zach Freeman and this is my 13th year in District 87 and my 14th year overall in education. I will be the new principal for the 2022-2023 school year... I have very large shoes to fill but I am up for the challenge!  I spent the 2021-2022 school year as an instructional coach at Stevenson Elementary School and enjoyed every minute of that fantastic school. I have spent the majority of my life here in central Illinois with the exception being two years abroad in Germany playing professional basketball. I attended Illinois Wesleyan University (2007) where I received licensure in elementary education with a middle school endorsement in social sciences. I currently hold two master's degrees from Illinois State University in Educational Administration & Foundations Type 75 (2013) and STEM Education & Leadership (2021). My commitment to lifelong learning has allowed me to stay at the forefront of educational trends and best practices in elementary education. I have been married to my amazing wife Allie for 11 years and we have two children, Cooper (7) and Lincoln (5). I have been a part of the Washington school family since student teaching in 2005 and feel a deep connection and passion for Washington and District 87. I look forward to fulfilling my commitments as an educational leader in the coming years... the best is yet to come!

*Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for any reason.  I will do everything in my power to make this a successful year for your child(ren).  I am ecstatic to be back at Washington!  GO WOLVES!
