My name is Casey and I am Sheridan’s Therapy Dog! I am a two-and-a-half year old yellow
lab who has been working very hard to be officially certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs
(ATD). That means I have had lots of training so that I can help, love, and comfort all the
Sheridan sharks – kids and staff alike! Some of the cool things I can do at school include:
visiting with kids who may be sad or anxious, calming some kids who are a little angry,
listening to kids read to me, and being a reward for kids who have done a good job! I know
that some kids and adults may be allergic to me and they may even be afraid of me. That’s
OK. If some kids or adults don’t want to be around me, they don’t have to be. My handler is
Julie Hesse, the School Psychologist at Sheridan, and I will be spending much of my time in
her office. I will be there on Tuesdays and Fridays but only half days at first, until I can build
up the stamina I need to be the best therapy dog I can be.
If you have any questions, you can call my handler, Julie, at 309-828-2359 ext. 1420 or
email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I can’t wait to get to work!
