District 87 provides free developmental screenings of Pre-Kindergarten children who live in the district. The screening, designed for 3 to 5 year old children, looks at speech and language development, thinking and reasoning abilities, muscle coordination, social skills and other readiness skills. The child's vision and hearing are also screened. The screening helps answer questions about a child's development and identifies children who are eligible for one of our programs.
Screening for children birth to 3 may be available through our partnership with Early Intervention.
Appointments are required. Parents/guardians need to choose and complete one of the three questionnaires listed below. The questionnaires are based on the languages spoken by any member of the household. If English and another language are spoken, complete the questionnaire that includes the other language. Once the questionnaire is completed, an email will be sent to you with a link to sign up for an appointment. In addition, the email will include an attachment explaining the documents required to be brought to the screening.
