Students have the ability to optionally obtain college credit from Heartland Community College through these classroom sessions.

Team building and skill building programs where students learn about decision making, life maps, finding your why, goal setting, and so much more. They will be able to participate in activities such as rope courses, hiking, volunteer service projects, etc.

Girls Who Code

Apply now to Girls Who Code’s FREE summer programs, with options running June 17 - August 12! They've got two great opportunities, so you can choose the one that fits your needs:
- Their 2-week Summer Immersion Program (SIP) hosts current 9th-11th graders in live virtual classrooms led by industry-leading companies like EA, Pfizer, and ViacomCBS. Students learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while getting an inside look into the tech industry. Plus, all SIP students can apply for grants up to $500 for financial support over the summer.
- Their Self-Paced Program gives current 9th-12th graders the flexibility to earn beginner-level badges in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web development or an intermediate-level badge in Python for cybersecurity through independent study and real-world projects.

How does this work?
- Contact your advisor to determine which course is appropriate; she will obtain approval from Mr. Moore.
- Once approval is received, visit https://www.ilvirtual.org/ to create an account.
- Request the appropriate course (remember to select the credit recovery option, if applicable).
- Bring payment toMrs. Pearl in the main office.
- Once payment is received, Mr. Moore will approve the course and you’ll be able to start with the session you’ve chosen.
- You must finish your coursework in the designated time frame. You may not apply for any extensions; they will not be approved for BHS students due to final grades needing to be reported on your transcript before the fall semester begins.
- You must complete all assignments in order to receive credit for the course; otherwise, an F will be reported on your BHS transcript when final grades are issued (despite what your current grade shows).
*** You may request up to two semester-long courses for the potential to earn 1 full credit over the summer.
