The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal
The Boys & Girls Club is hosting our annual Holiday Shopping Spree for families of the Boys & Girls Club and a limited number of community families. Families walk through our shopping area and pick out toys, winter items, and other necessities for their children and family including a food box with all the fixings for your Holiday dinner. Distribution of toys will be Saturday, December 19th 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Children’s Christmas Party
The 38th annual Children’s Christmas Party for low-income families is Saturday,
December 12, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Because of COVID, there will be no activities at Bloomington High School this year. However, a gift and food distribution will take place at the Midwest Food Bank, 2031 Warehouse Road, Normal (off of Northtown Road, north of I-55 in Normal).

This will be a drive-in, drive-out event.
Children do not need to be present as packages will simply be loaded in the vehicle.

Home Sweet Home Ministries Holiday Plans
Due to safety precautions, Home Sweet Home will not be serving a sit down meal to community residents on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. Anyone from the community can receive a sack lunch upon request at the front desk. Sack lunches will be available on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and then again from 4 pm to 7 pm each day.
Home Sweet Home Ministries, Midwest Food Bank, and Thrivent Financial are once again partnering for Give Thanks. Dates and times for distribution are as follows:
Saturday, November 21: 10 am to 2 pm Monday, November 23: 4 pm to 8 pm.
Anyone in need from the community can pick up a Thanksgiving meal box and frozen turkey during these times at Midwest Food Bank located at 2301 Warehouse Drive, Normal.
The Salvation Army – 2020 Holiday Assistance
Free Coat Program
Free coat distribution this year is limited to adults (over 18) who didn’t receive a coat in 2019 and children under the age of 5. Individuals needing a coat should call The Salvation Army at (309) 829-9476, extension 289, beginning Thursday, October 8. Clients will leave a message, then be contacted via telephone for an intake interview over the phone. An appointment for coat pick-up will be scheduled during the interview. There will not be open selection this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Toys for Tots – US Marine Corps Reserves
The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children. Toy applications are accepted and managed by the Local Marine Toys for Tots Campaign in your area.
