BJHS Scholastic Bowl
BJHS scholastic bowl team came in 2nd in their pool play last Friday, leading to the consolation championship. Your Knights lost a nail-biter in the consolation championship, losing by one question. Your Knights received state-level recognition and a runner-up consolation championship trophy and medals! There were over 160 teams at the start of the IESA regionals, with your knights in the top 2.5% of the state!
Student Council
Student Council members who are attending the Midwest Food Bank service field trip please report to the bus foyer/trophy case area at 9:05 on Wednesday, May 10th, to board the bus. You MUST wear closed toe shoes, such as tennis shoes, as a requirement for safety. Please see the student council Google classroom for additional information. Choir Sign-up
Interested in joining choir class next year? If you are not currently enrolled in band, choir, or orchestra, please email Mr. Thomason to enroll (thomasonm@district87.org). Once enrolled, you can choose if you would like the option of zero hour P.E. along with an alternate AFL class. The deadline to enroll for choir is this Friday, May 5, 2023.

2023 8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip
There will be a mandatory meeting on May 18th at 6 PM in the cafeteria. All students going on the trip must attend the meeting with an adult. If an adult or student cannot attend, they must contact Mr. Neuman via email at neumane@district87.org. The meeting will address final questions and expectations for the trip. If you have any old t-shirts laying around at home and would like to donate them for our next service project please bring them to the meeting or drop them off at Mrs. Engst's PE office.

This weekend the BJHS Scholastic Bowl A team took third out of 24 teams from three states at the Franklin Middle School Invitational Tournament. Their win comes in addition to Adhrut Kulkarni's medal for 2nd most toss up questions with most power answers in the event. Great job A team!"

Black History Month Door Decorating Contest
As one of our activities celebrating Black History, we would like to invite all roundtables to make a creative, uniquely decorated door this month. We would like to encourage all students in the roundtable to participate in its creation (researching, artwork, design–whatever best suits their interests). Students and teachers are welcome to work on doors at any point between now and February 24th. The doors will be judged on February 28, and the winner will then be announced on Tuesday, March 1, 2023.
BJHS BSU
BJHS Black Student Union is a student-led club that works to create a culturally safe environment for students. It's open to everyone! There will be a Student social on February 24, 2023 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the IMC.

We are so excited for our Black History Month trivia contest! Remember, there are two ways to win. Each day, one student will win a small prize delivered by a BSU representative for the fastest correct answer. Students may answer on the Google Form shared by their teachers in their Google Classroom for roundtable. It has a space to answer for each question in February. At the end of the month, the roundtable that has the highest amount of participation will also win donuts for their whole roundtable!
