Homework

Your first grader works VERY HARD in school all day and needs the opportunity to play and spend time with family after school.  Therefore, there will not be formal homework worksheets, packets, or calendars coming home this school year.

Instead, I have some general homework suggestions that will remain the same throughout the school year.  As much as your family schedule allows, students should do the following things daily.

  • Read, read, read!
  • Practice sight words:  Each student's sight words are based on his/her reading level.  Each time I assess students' reading levels, I will send home new sight words for you to practice at home based on that assessment.
  • Practice math facts:  Flash cards will be distributed at Parent/Teacher Conferences in October to help you with this practice.
