About Me
I love, love, love teaching first grade!  This will be my ninth year teaching first grade at Oakland; prior to that, I worked at Oakland as a paraprofessional supporting students with special needs and teaching reading intervention groups.  I love the Oakland community!

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I received my Bachelor's Degree in Family Relations and Human Development and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University.  Before moving to Bloomington and taking time away from the classroom to raise my family, I taught second grade in Columbia, South Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland.

My husband Erik is a zookeeper at Miller Park Zoo.  We have two boys, Avery and Blake, who both attended Oakland.  Blake is currently a sophomore at Bloomington High School, and Avery is starting his freshman year at Illinois State University.  We have a lot of pets at my house--3 backyard chickens, 4 cats, 2 gerbils, 1 bearded dragon, and some fish.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching movies and spending time with my family.
