About The Teacher
Tani Schrift
I grew up in a small town near Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and hold a degree in Early Childhood Education from UNC-CH. My husband is also a graduate, so college basketball is serious business in my family! My husband is a professor in the History department at ISU, and we have three children. We also have two pet corgis-Winston and Maisie. Julia lives in Austin and works as a nurse in a maternity ward of a hospital. Jacob is a junior at ISU, and Matthew is in seventh grade. My family still lives in North Carolina, and my husband is from Austin, so we spend a lot of time traveling to see family.
As my husband pursued his graduate degrees, I found myself teaching in a number of places in a variety of jobs. I taught Reading Recovery, Head Start, second grade, first grade, and kindergarten in Virginia, Kansas, Oregon, North Carolina, and Illinois. I completed my Master's degree in Reading at ISU and graduated in May of 2010. In my spare time, I love to read, ride my bike, go to the movies, and travel!
