Public Hearing - June 9


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education of Bloomington Public
Schools, District #87, McLean County, Illinois will hold a public hearing related to
its use of School Improvement Days for teachers. District 87 is seeking a
modification of Section 18-8.05(F)(2)(d)(2) of the School Code (105 ILCS 5/18-
8.05 (F)(2)(d)(2)). The specific language of this section is “(d) A session of 3 or
more clock hours may be counted as a day of attendance (1) when the
remainder of the school day or at least 2 hours in the evening of that day is
utilized for an in-service training program for teachers, up to a maximum of 5
days per school year of which a maximum of 4 days of such 5 days may be used
for parent-teacher conferences, provided a district conducts an in-service training
program for teachers which has been approved by the State Superintendent of
Education; or, in lieu of 4 such days, 2 full days may be used, in which event
each such day may be counted as a day of attendance”. The meeting will be held
on June 9, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Educational Services Center, 300 East
Monroe Street, Bloomington, Illinois. Any interested citizen may address the
Board prior to action on this item.
