Biography

Hello!  My name is Nick Bussan and I am a third grade teacher at Bent School (District 87) in Bloomington, IL.  I began teaching in 1997 at Centennial School in Streator, IL.  In 1999, I moved to Bloomington and have been at Bent School ever since.

While at Bent, in 2002, I met a very special teacher named Nikki.  The following year we fell in love and got married.  She is now an art teacher in District 87.  We are very blessed to have a wonderful daughter, named Brooke, who truly puts the sparkle in our eyes.

We live on a small farm near Heyworth, IL.  When I'm not at school or doing something with my family, I can usually be found working on the farm.

Being a teacher and a farmer, I don't have a lot of spare time, but when I do get some, I love to read books.  I've even written a few stories of my own over the years...but haven't gotten them published yet (although my wife has!).

I strive to help my students become life-long learners who know the value of hard work and have the heart and determination to follow their dreams.  Those are traits that have helped me get where I am in life and those are the same traits I try to pass on to my students.

I can sum up my advice to my students in one word:  BENT
   Believe in yourself
   Expect to succeed
   Never give up
   Try your best

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I hope it gives you  some more insight into who I am and what I believe.  If you  ever need anything, please feel free to contact me and let me know.
