Event Details: Date: September 30th Time: 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Location: Anderson Park This event aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle while focusing on prevention and well-being. It presents a great opportunity for our students to engage in various activities and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Anderson Park with their peers. Highlights of the event include: Food, Crafts, Games, Yoga, Giveaways, and a Basketball Challenge. We look forward to seeing our BJHS students at Anderson Park on September 30th, as they embrace the spirit of Play 4 Prevention!  Let’s all make Play 4 Prevention Day a memorable event for our students! We are happy to announce that in-person attendance will resume on Thursday, August 24th at BJHS. As you can imagine, this was incredibly frustrating for all of us as we wanted to begin school with no issues or hiccups. We want to thank our maintenance crew, our BJHS teachers/staff, and our parents and students for their patience and understanding as we dealt with this complex and frustrating situation. We encourage all students to dress in lightweight and loose-fitting clothing that allows for proper ventilation as the building is still cooling down. It's also essential for students to stay hydrated throughout the day. We have water-filling stations available, and we will be actively encouraging our students to drink plenty of liquids to stay well-hydrated. It is to be noted that the entire HVAC system at BJHS was updated over the summer, and we are simply waiting on back-ordered chillers ordered last October to finish the project. Our hope was that the older system would continue to function as it had through the summer until early fall when our new chillers arrive. Unfortunately, we were forced to pivot this week when the system went down. We again apologize for the inconvenience but are confident that the HVAC upgrades that have been completed at BJHS will help us avoid situations such as these in the future. Thank you for your patience and trust in us. We look forward to having your students back in a comfortable building tomorrow. Dear BJHS Families, We wanted to provide you with an update on the status of the cooling system at BJHS. Our dedicated maintenance staff has been working tirelessly to secure solutions. We have located a replacement chiller that should be on site late in the afternoon today. In light of these circumstances, and the forecasted temperatures for tomorrow, we have made the decision to continue with remote learning for Wednesday to allow for installation and testing. This means that students will not attend school in person Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023. We understand the importance of having students and staff back in the building as soon as possible. However, that decision will be dependent on the progress of the repairs and the prevailing outside heat conditions. We will send additional communications home regarding the work that your students can complete during their remote learning day. Please be on the lookout for these materials and instructions. As we navigate through this period of extreme heat, we want to emphasize the importance of staying cool and hydrated, the well-being of our BJHS students and staff is of utmost importance to us. We appreciate your support and understanding as we work to address these challenges and create a safe and comfortable learning environment for our students and staff.
