Game Day policies

As the 2025 fall sports season kicks off, D87 is implementing a Clear Bag Policy for all BJHS and BHS ticketed (paid) sporting events to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.

Ticketed fall sporting events include: varsity football (BHS), volleyball (BHS), swimming (BHS), and girls' basketball (BJHS).

Here is everything you need to know about our new Game Day Policy:

Permitted Items:

To prioritize safety, the following items will be allowed inside event venues:

  • Clear Bags: Maximum size of 12” x 6” x 12”.

  • Small Clutch Bags: No larger than 4.5” x 7”.

  • Diaper Bags: Allowed when accompanied by a child.

  • Camera Bags: Permitted but will be subject to inspection.

  • Medical Items: Essential items are permitted, subject to search.

Prohibited Items:

The Clear Bag Policy also outlines items that will not be allowed:

  • Non-Clear Bags larger than 4.5” x 7” (including school backpacks, purses, etc.).

  • Artificial noise makers.

  • Pets.

  • Weapons of any kind (e.g., guns, knives, or other dangerous items).

  • Outside food and drinks.

Expectations for Spectators:

To support the policy’s goals, all attendees are asked to follow these expectations:

  • Student Safety:

    • All BHS students must be prepared to show their school ID upon entry.

    • Junior high and elementary students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Event Behavior:

    • IHSA and IESA sportsmanship rules must be followed at all times.

    • Loitering behind the stands in the concession area during football games is prohibited.

  • Post-Event Guidelines:

    • All spectators must leave the event premises within 15 minutes of the event’s conclusion.

Need a Clear Bag?

District 87 is making compliance easy! Anyone who wishes to purchase an official D87-approved clear bag can do so for $10 at the BHS Athletic Office or the BJHS Main Office.

The goal of these updated policies is to create a safe environment for students, families, and fans while fostering sportsmanship and community spirit throughout the season.

For questions or additional details about the Clear Bag Policy, please feel free to contact Tony Bauman of the D87 Athletic Department at baumant@district87.org.

Let’s work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable season filled with fun, sportsmanship, and D87 pride!
